A Special Night at the Carolina Music Museum–one you won’t forget Pan Harmonia – Melodic Dreaming, Friday, April 12, 7:30!
Melodic Dreaming, an interactive art and music concert marks the return of Pan Harmonia to the intimate performance setting at Carolina Music Museum on Friday, April 12 at 7:30. This award winning chamber music repertory company, from Asheville, NC, directed by flutist Kate Steinbeck adds fellow flutist James Brinkman and pianist John Crowley for a truly remarkable experience that joins musicians and the audience in a collaboration where both create a work of art! Let’s just say that the magic markers will be supplied! An evening you’ll long remember–they play music and you make art!
Kate earned a Bachelor of Music from Baldwin-Wallace College, studying with William Hebert (Cleveland Orchestra), followed by a Fulbright scholar to study chamber music in Belgium. She later spent several years performing and teaching in Germany before returning to the US to pursue a MM at the San Francisco Conservatory as a student of Tim Day (SF Symphony). As a freelance flutist, she was featured on many of the Bay Area’s most prestigious stages. Kate is recognized across the US and abroad as a passionate teacher and coach, unique interpreter and innovative music producer with repertoire that ranges from Bach to Balinese.
James Brinkmann’s musical journey started at age 12 when he heard the flute in concert and decided right then that he had to play that instrument. He went on to get his degree from DePaul University’s School of Music in Chicago, jammed in subways, and began designing interactive performances to enhance audience’s connection with the music and finding creative ways for audiences to express their response creatively in real time–the audience became co-creators of the concert. Of course, James plays in concert halls, performs and teaches around the country for universities, orchestras, music organizations, and community groups.
