This gifted and virtuoso keyboardist, born in Korea and now serving as Director of Piano Studies at Charleston Southern University, will be performing at the Carolina Music Museum on Saturday, February 9, at 7:30. Dr. Yun received her undergraduate degree from Yonsei University in Korea and her MM, under Reid Alexander and DMA, under Ian Hobson, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Over the last several years Yun has performed all over the world including the Summer Season of Music of the Nations in Rome, the Gewandhaus Concert Hall in Leipzig, the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall and Spivey Hall in Georgia. She has received coaching sessions with world-renowned artists including Olga Kern, Pascal Rogé and Joaquin Achucarro to name but a few. Along with the standard piano concert repertoire, she has explored repertoire for the organ,harpsichord, and fortepiano. Yun is an active presenter, clinician, writer, and adjudicator and has appeared in local, state, national, and international venues, including the World Piano Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia; Korean piano pedagogy conferences; and MTNA national conference in the United States. She is a founding member of piano the ensemble, Pianissimo, whose active membership now includes more than 100 pianists in Korea.
The February 9th audience will enjoy a program played on the big Steinway D in the downstairs concert hall that includes the Brahms Paganini Variations, Cyril Scott’s Lotus Land, Chopin’s Ballade 3, and Bach’s French Suite in G. Start February on the right note at the Carolna Music Museum!
