Twenty-year old Gabriel Smallwood began playing piano at the age of three and, now, the Columbia, SC, native lives in Leipzig, Germany where he studies under the tutelage of Prof. Alexander Meinel at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.” In addition to regular concerts in Germany and the United States, Gabriel has also performed in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Italy. He has special interest in historical instruments and his love for early music has given him the opportunity to perform on the harpsichord in solo recitals and in ensembles. You can hear this immensely talented young musician play those historic instruments Sunday, August 5, at the Carolina Music Museum on Heritage Green in downtown Greenville.
