(There isn’t a successful arts organization we know of that thrives without dedicated volunteers, the Carolina Music Museum is no exception. We will be pleased to feature those who have meant so much to us as we begin our first year on Heritage Green.)
Margo was born and raised in Canada where she met her husband Walter and they embarked on two decades of international business assignments. They moved to Greenville in 1989 and have watched in delight as the city grew and expanded their arts and culture scene. She has enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer in several areas and has been especially pleased to volunteer at the Carolina Music Museum. Margo enjoys music but does not have a musical background, however she has been able to learn so much from seeing and hearing the harpsichords and pianos and learning their fascinating history.
A graduate from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, with a BS in both Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, an MS in Industrial Engineering at the University of Toledo, Walter was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area. His early career consisted of engineering and management positions at domestic oil and gas companies. He then joined international engineering and construction companies and managed oil, gas and chemical projects in seven overseas countries spanning 17 years. Walter’s interest in music began early playing clarinet in his school concert and marching bands. He enjoys the depth and breadth of cultural opportunities in Greenville and is excited by the opening of the Carolina Music Museum.
Thank you Margo and Walter, you have been a tremendous help in getting this museum started!
